college/adult bowling

does anybody know if i choose to bowl in an adult league hits year (i'm 18) can i bowl in college after that like next yr?  thanks for the help

Since we have lots of college bowlers in our men's league. I know they can bowl for money.

The only issue I would think would be high school sports eligibilty and being able to earn scholarship money/tournaments.

I know for a fact you can bowl in USBC sanctioned leagues and you can bowl for money as a collegiate bowler.  Obviously PBA events are out of the question, though I remember people bowling in regionals as an amateur.  Most of the restrictions for collegiate bowling teams is in how the club/team make money and how to handle "scholarship" money won during collegiate tournaments.  That is what becomes confusing.

If collegiate bowling doesn't have a problem with it, then my next point is probably moot too.  If you play any kind of varsity-level (not club-level) sport like football or basketball, you need to make sure you won't violate any NCAA regulations concerning playing sports for money.  

If collegiate bowling is all you do and it's established that college bowlers can bowl in adult money leagues, you're ok, but don't risk other athletic eligibility and scholarships.  Talk to your other coaches or some NCAA rule nazi about it.

Men's collegiate bowling is not NCAA, club level only.  You can bowl what ever you want for whatever money you want.  

If you play NCAA baseball then that might be different, you'll have to check with the baseball side of it.

I made quite a bit of money at Nationals the year I bowl collegiatly, not a word from anybody.

You shouldn't have any problem on the bowling side in bowling in an adult league and in college.  College bowling for the men is not NCAA so there aren't nearly as many things to worry about.  If you were planning on playing baseball, you may want to look into whether winning cash from bowling would impact your eligibility.

I agree with others on the baseball side.  You should contact your coach/future coach on eligibility requirements.  I had a friend who started for a BCS football team and also bowled in an adult league with a prize fund so I am sure there is something about amounts involved.  Just need to check to make sure.

you CAN bowl in a mens league and still bowl for a college team.. you CAN NOT bowl in a mens league and bowl for your high school team..

Everyone's got it right so far.  Since men are not NCAA then you can bowl for as much as you want.  Baseball is another story.  My brother had to go through a decent amount to be able to play baseball and bowl for money.  In the end he was able to do both, but there was a process he had to go through.

If mens were NCAA then you'd have to be a youth bowler and under whatever age it may be.  That alone would throw me out.  I'm old compared to most out there and I'm only 26!!!

You were 26?  You were young.  I started when I was 32 and bowled for two years.

Currently 26 in my last year it.  At 32 I bet you about felt like a grandpa.  I find myself being almost dad like to some of the guys on the team. lol
