Colored thumb holes
« on: November 09, 2006, 04:39:40 AM »
I see in all these pictures nice smoothed edged colored thumb holes. What I want to know is the way they doe this is to drill a hole then insert a slug then drill the right size????  My ball is just a drilled hole in the ball and like the look of the way Im describing.

You are correct.

Different balls have different feels in the hole. With the slug they feel the same.

if your asking how to put a slug in... say you have an inch and 1/4 slug, you take the ball, drill an inch and 1/4 hole, sand the gloss finish off the edge if the slug, put a bit of glue in the hole and hammer it in all the way to the bottom of the hole. then you use a plug cutter to get it down flush with the ball, and proceed to put the normal size hole in that insert. its to get a consistant feel from ball to ball, some times its alot smoother others its just to get it as similar from ball to ball as possible. I personally go between either, I have a slug in my spare ball, ultimate inferno, orignal inferno ect but I dont have one in my Black widow or new total inferno, altho the widow's thumb is a bit tacky so I will probably slip a slug in there.

Couple other methods to getting the slug in and turning down the excess, but basically monstercrank described it.
