plugging a ball
« on: August 15, 2004, 09:36:12 AM »
I'm getting a el nino wrath from a bowler, drilled up right hander. My boss gave me a el nino wrath drilled up left hander. What is better plugging the left handed ball or plugging the right handed ball if it needs to be plugged?

I like a fresh surface.  Look for:

1 - Whichever ball won't have plugs in your track.  Take your intended drilling into consideration.

2 - Look for the ball with the most cover life left.  If the label was originally deep and it's almost gone, there's not much left.  Also look for one that's been well maintained.  If it's got deep scratches, it will need a full resurface that will reduce the cover thickness.

3 - I like left handers equipment.  You are usually throwing on a fresh track.  If you believe some of the manufacturers, the repeated pounding/compression the track takes causes oil absorption, cover brittleness
