for the past two practice sessions, I have been working on my second step of my approach (5 step approach.) I have always walked normally, but I have decided to cross over to be able to keep the ball under my head. When I do this, my balance is better and my timing is later. I am also able to increase my rev rate effortlessly due to my timing change. I have always been prone to pulling my shots, but now I can't seem to keep from sending my shots outside, particularly out to the gutter. Part of this is due to having to get the ball out to the 5 board to keep from going through the nose and splitting, and I am not use to that line. For you bowling gurus, is it normal for this change to cause a tendency to send the ball wide?

That's too vague of a statement to intelligently respond...it could be too many things

Justrico, I had a feeling that would be the answer I got, but I had to ask anyway. I didn't have a chance to get a video, or I would have posted one.

Cross over steps seemingly are the thing to today but it doesn't fit everyone...it has more to do with upper body position, spine angle and swing plane...

If there was a "textbook" form, how far forward should a person be bending at the waist and how far to the side should a person be leaning? When I was doing this, I noticed that, to get my head over the ball, I was leaning to the side more than usual

I've never see you bowl therefore it is difficult to answer that
Also there is no textbook it's based on the individual...

Ok thank you for your input. I'll try to get a video up sometime
