How important is it realy?  Does anyone ever turn a profit playing house leagues year after year?  After you add up all your expenses, Latest & Greatest Balls, Pro Shop fees for sanding, polishing and other accessories you buy, Gas to get to and from, Food, Drinks, League fees.

I am sure some can turn a profit for 1 league but if you add up all the leagues you played in that you did not turn profit, where are you financialy in the sport?

People want to feel that they are getting something back, and that they are getting more back than the other guy, even though neither one of them really came out ahead.

Maybe it's like a little savings account, the way people intentionally have more money withheld from their paychecks than is necessary.  Ever tried to explain the concept of the time value of money, or the difference between withholding and tax?
