Ever "Can't Put a Ball Down"?
« on: February 15, 2011, 12:44:53 PM »
Lol...  shot + 80 the first two games of league tonight.. and couldn't bring myself to change balls.... lanes dried significantly and completely lost my look....  Ended up just shooting positive, but a rather "embarassing" finishing game....   ever get caught in this trap???

Many times have i earned my 525 patch lol.........

I cant even tell you how many times i've shot 490+ for 2 games and get to the third game and just loose my look or just go blaaaaaaaaa........

one of my more imfamous times i went 267-267 then shot like 201 lol....  did a few 270's / 259's then 190/200 game.....

or on the flip side, i've done a few 150's , 270-260 type of nights....

i went 289-257-170 with my invasion. that ball can NEVER make it through 3 games xD

exact opposite.
using chalk went 190 191, pulled out the swagga went 255

two weeks before that it was reverse
using swagga went 174, pulled out chalk went 238 244

I'm in the process of trying to find out where I fit in the bowling world. I do not know my tech specs of my game, but it's all a learning process.

Usually either happens to many people even if they have two other balls for three reasons: Love the reaction of the ball on most days, like the way it feels compared to the other balls and the most reason people don't switch balls in some cases is it happens to be your new or newest ball compared to your other balls. I mean really. If you have two older balls no matter how good they are and even if you know you happen to have a ball in there that will give you the best chance to score how can you resist not throwing that brand new ball?

Happened to me last night. I just had to use my theory, shots looked good..I'm drilling the pocket and kept leaving 10's. Ended the first game 182, 2nd and 3rd game used the Dagger 247,236. Just goes to show you, everything that looks good ain't good for you lol.

Hail to the Victors...Go Blue.....!!!

Frequently in league, where thin oil and strong lane traffic with soaker balls quickly messes up the heads. I lost several later games to this situation, due to my conservative nature. But I have become aware of this and now try to have a much closer look at the ball's reaction, so that switching line and/or ball comes much quicker and with more confidence. Had this again at my last league start last Sunday - after lunch break and despite freshly oiled lanes, the ball I used before was too much. I worked well and I had a line to the pocket, but I could not carry or left corner pins. So I courageously pulled out a weaker ball - two frames for adjustment, but finally saved the game for a 177 (worst game of the day - I feared to end up with a 160 or so...).

Know your weapons, and when and how to use them - an underestimated aspect in bolwing, IMHO.
