I think i found my PAP
« on: February 02, 2005, 10:05:20 AM »
Well i tried the little tape thing, and ask my friend to watch it today.  He said it was stable at first, then went down the lane and started wobbling.  So this leads me to believe i found my PAP (well for one of my releases anyways).  I brought it home, measured it up and my measurements are telling me my pap is 6 over, and 1/2 up.  Which would make the drilling on my power groove a 5.5 x 5.5..........

Either i have no understanding of how PAP's work or something, but it just doesn't seem like i could even have a PAP that far over.....Hmm.

With a high track, it is perfectly possible for that to be your pap. Did you make sure and measure the tape from grip center? I think its easier if you do first oil ring, grease pencil, and a spinner, but thats just me...

BK, i never heard you tell me i track over holes.  Though i have noticed that happens.....

Stanksi, i'd do the thing you said except i didn't have a grease pencil or spinner, and the tape thing seemed easy.

BTW, since i probably do roll over the thumb, how could i not do this?  IS it simply a matter of just changing how i release it?

I'm trying to figure out the same thing, as I do this on some of my balls also (see the various threads where I asked this and did not get a good answer besides "come around the side more" but I already get a lot of sideroll).

Well stanski, looks like we're on a mission together.  Just as you said, I can come around the ball a lot too.

If i make any breakthroughs, I'll message them to you since I'm pretty sure most of BR has me on ignore.

Keep your thumb in the ball longer. The longer your thumb stays in, the lower your track.

One reason the ball rolls over the thumb is "too" much lift with the fingers. I had a friend of mine on my team doing this and my coach made him tame his release down. This may not be the case for you guys but if it is just try to stay smooth and roll the ball...do not Rip it with your fingers.

Ironic, because I am going to add forward in my thumb anyways, to reduce my gripping of the ball.  Well we'll see.

I'm afraid if I tried to get any less lift I would get 0 revs, lol. I have been described as having one of the smoothest releases many have seen, but I do not generate a lot of revs (can change the release to get more revs, but don't like to get more very often).
