Found out what I like
« on: June 26, 2009, 02:07:57 PM »
Finally found what gave me a good feel in the thumb hole, giving me a clean release and prevented me from gripping the ball. I put 3 pieces of white tape in the front of the hole and wore the red Vise Hada tape on the back of my thumb. I tried using black tape on the back side of the hole and it was too slick. White made me grab. Just curious if anyone else uses just white on the front of their thumb holes?

I use white in front and back.  I could see myself mixing that up with one of the Hada Patch Tapes on my thumb as well.

I have used Magic carpet at he rear of my thumb hole for about 3 years and black tape in front as necessary to accommodate swelling. Last fall I started experimenting again and my best release is with the Magic carpet in the quicker release direction, red vise tape on the back of my thumb, and 3/4" white textured tape at front of thumb hole as necessary to give me a snug fit(usually one or two pieces).
My feel is much better and stays more consistent and since this change I have bowled my first 300, a 290, and now a 288 on the Chameleon PBAX pattern last week. This worked great for me, I highly recommend everyone experiments to see what works best for them, as you and I have strikestriketapped.
