I want to ask a question...
« on: September 14, 2003, 10:34:41 PM »
On 'Bones post about tougher conditions...  Those of you who DO want tougher conditions, why do you want them?

I don't care particularly for tough league conditions every week, but I'd like to see patterns rotated with various levels of difficulty throughout the season so I can actualy gauge how adaptable my game is compared to the rest of the league.  Right now, averages don't mean much to me since they are all usually shot on the same walled pattern.  The guy who is truly good will be able to keep that average high while adapting to various patterns, and that is how I would like to see my game (avg.) compared to others.

I like tough conditions.. I suck on them , but they are fun. I can learn from them. Like last night the oil machine was broke, they drug out a real old one. The shot was $hit!!! I am sure it will be the same tonight if not worse. They are just laying new oil on top of the old stuff. Not stripping at all. I am sure my scores tonight will be embarrassing!!

I see it a 300 is a 300 and an 800 is an 800 no matter how you hit them.  Unless you're in this sport for the money( long term) there shouldn't be such a high level of pride as to where 90% of the bowlers shrug their shoulders at a 300.  If you like the tough shots and pressure then that's all fine and dandy but some bowlers don't go that far.

To further what Charlest said in Bones thread....the top man averaged 186 when on a THS he averages 230.  I highly doubt most people would consistently pay $20 or more a week for that, knowing that most of these men are confused to say the least.  So...how many of these people actually shot honor scores to get any rings or trophies?

Bottom line is if you're making real money from this sport, and sport shots are something you like to battle, great, but some bowlers.....even the ones who talk tough would prefer to get that 300 anyway possible.....and none the less it will still mean the same.

In the old days people used to cut wood with axes.....................now and days...............they just have Executioners do it for them!

Pin_Krusher IS a serious threat to modern day bowling wood as we know it today.
