I am so tired of averaged 255 today and lost money. This happens everytime i bowl good. I shot 245 lost 2 brackets, shot 248 lost 1 bracket, shot 274 lost all three of my other brackets. I absolutely tired of it we have no scratch leagues in our town because there are so many sand baggin mofos. We used o have good scratch tourneys,no more. The last one standing has become a joke used to be a wating list now lucky if get 30 for it.Used to be great, now just a joke. Onlky thing that gets a turnout anymore is handicap tourneys. All my leagues are a wall shot to where if you dont shoot 279 or higher your not making money and it always the people that throw the ball like crap that are scoring. I want out of this town they dont even know what a scatch league is anymore. Are you all experiencing this or is it just where I bowl?

It is where you bowl. Where I am at, there is one house that generates scores like you're talking. the two houses I bowl at are tough! And there is NO action anywhere! It's not like the good old days when we had pot games all weekend long and 210 had a good chance of winning!

I dont bowl on soft conditions but i do feel your pain on the brackets. shot 685 last week and it should have been 750 but 3rd game the lanes dried up quick and i made a ball change which was a very bad idea.
and with that 685 I made one bracket. nothing below 220, lined up with the same guy 3 times... he shot 773!

but i didnt complain cuz its brackets! you''re taking a chance that you might lose. if your house is so easy and people sandbag, get your money far away from the brackets. simple as that.

bowl to have fun. right now scratch leagues are talked of as if it were a myth of olde times.

Last tuesday night bowled a 5 man team with 32 teams. I shot 654 at this house, I entered 15 brackets ended up winning 12 finals. This is not an easy house at all, and all this was scratch. Some houses are way too easy for "new" bowler that thinks they should spray the whole lane and shoot at least 240++. I love having the scratch leagues. Some years back at another league they (few of the new bowlers) wanted to increase the handicap to 100% of 300 avg so they could win money on the first time they joined. sorry for the rant.....

We have four houses in my town and none of them are tough, They all throw out easy wall shots cause their all trying to compete to get the small number of bowlers that are left we just have too many houses for the amount of bowlers in this town back in the 60's to 90's all the houses weree full on any given night now it is just one good league per night at different houses.

DR REVS this is what I want, a scratch league they have been non existent in my area for about 8 years now. If it doesn't have handicap for the new bowlers as you put it they dont even care about it same with tourneys. I want a shot to be tough and for good shots to count. They cant get a pba experience league in area cause they might get me and 4 other guys that want to bowl in it, its just sad, i was just angry and ranting after a league but thanks for everyone's input on this subject. I know it wont change I am just going to have to change when and where I bowl.

I know it is taking a chance, I always go in with the mentality if i lose i lose but it is just frustrating losing when you bowl so good, The only one that beat me was me the last game 274 was a bad fill ball in tenth threw a greek church about 10 extra revs on ball and it ripped through face just a mental error on my part and i knew it would cost me and it did. I was just ranting after a good day. It is what it is, cant change it, can only try to over come it. I'm stronger for it now, wont make that mental error in tenth anymore every pin counts. Care less about money thing. My point of rant was want to bowl on a good league in a good town, for god sakes i saw a urethane ball league was starting up in this forum in some town you even mention that idea in my town and you would get laughed at. Myself I have multiple awards scores with rubber, urethane and plastic equipment, heck even won a city tourney with a plastic ball. So I thrown the ball good a few times in my life. It was just a rant nothing more, could care less today. Just was a little hot under collar yesterday.

Nice bowling nonetheless! Even on a walled up shot! This is why we play the games.....cause it's bowling!

We have a walled up shot in one of my houses, where I should average about 240. I don't even exert a lot of effort in this house because it is so easy, and yet it amazes me that there are individuals who have no idea of how to bowl in this place. I only bowl in this house as a means of socializing and having fun!

But you are right. A scratch league is the true test of your skills.

760 doesn't win much around here either. just be glad your left handed and don't have to adjust on the walled shot. simple solution is don't get in brackets if you don't like them so much.

Try bowling in a league, handicap brackets, shoot 300 and lose a handful of brackets to 4 different people.

In brackets .. if you don't get past the first bowler .. you're OUT! 300 the 3rd game doesn't help you!
