I witnessed history last night
« on: March 12, 2009, 01:38:07 AM »
While I was bowling league at AMF Sheridan Lanes in Tulsa, OK, another guy by the name of Thomas Patterson, a few lanes down from me on another league, made history.

300-299-279 - 878

He broke the Tulsa, OK city record by one pin. I don't think he's a Brunswick staffer, but he's a supporter by throwing the Big B and wearing the swag. I'm sure he'll be on the Brunswick website's highlight reel in a few days, so be looking for it.

Thomas is the son of local bowling legend Tracy Patterson. Tracy has been in the bowling community for years in the Tulsa area and his achievements in bowling and service have earned him entry into the Oklahoma and Tulsa Bowling Halls of Fame.

Congrats, Thomas! You've set a new plateau! 34 out of 36 strikes is not bad at all!

Isn't Tracy the one that has or used to have a pro a shop at Riverside Lanes?

Doug Coleman owns pro shops at Riverlanes (Now called Andy B's) and Broken Arrow Lanes. Tracy used to work for him, but now he's back to his old pro shop (which AMF owns now) at AMF Sheridan Lanes over a year ago.

Before working for Doug, Tracy owned the pro shop at Sheridan for years. That was before AMF took over.

Doug owns the shop at Heritage Lanes in OKC also. The person running it is Donnie Cassel. He was elected into the Oklahoma Bowling Hall of Fame also.

How many pro shops does Doug own?

Among the three we mentioned, those are the only ones I'm aware of.

Just some insight on this.

I bowl with Thomas' Uncle in East Texas and he called me about this Wednesday night. Thomas is on big B's staff. Ive only met the guy one time but I bowl with Andy and Dale regularly. Andy is his cousin who is on Hammers staff. Just thought i would clarify that he is on Brunswicks staff

Thanks for the info, squid. Now I'm sure he'll be on the Brunswick website highlight reel soon.

It took a few days, but Thomas's mug is now on Brunswick's website. It sucks there's no directly link to his highlight, but it's on the main page:

Congrats again, Thomas!

Very awesome indeed.

We've had two 878s in our local association this season.
Two different bowlers. Two different houses. One was thrown against me. I didn't care. It was awesome to see it up close!
