I won a ball of my choice, what should I get?
« on: May 10, 2005, 02:20:47 PM »
I love all my D/T equipment so I was thinking about the High Energy. I need something to move good through medium to medium heavy oil and be strong on the back end even with carrydown. What would be my best choice out of these.

High Energy
GP2
Shock and Awe

other suggestions are welcome, but I like the ones I have narrowed down to.

I also have alot of side roll, so I need something that will accept that. My Thing Lives doesnt like alot of side roll and I have to adjust.

I have not seen the others but the GP2 is a monster. It does not even blink when it sees carrydown. And according to the experts the coverstock is very easy to adjust.

I have a GP2 and that thing just eats oil! I'm drilling a High Energy tomorrow. They are two totally different balls but I don't think you can go wrong with either! I've only seen a few S&A's in action and seem to roll well!

I've listened to my friend talk about his shock and awe and it seems to do exactly what you're looking for.

I read in one of the reviews that the Shock and Awe needs dry boards to recover. I don't want that b/c I need a ball to recover in carrydown. I am affraid the GP2 may be too much of an oiler and hook at my feet. I am thinking of going with the HE.

There is a cranker around here that is absolutely in love with his gp2. He uses it on anything medium and up and has been killing it.

The other choice that i would go with is this cranker also loves his wmb. The wmb is not quite as much of an oiler as the gp2, but works very well on some oil.

I have heard some say that the GP2 is stronger than lane1 SCB. I have a SCB and it hooks too much for the oil I see when it is dull. If I put a light coat of polish on it, then it goes a little too long before recovering. Would the GP2 be similar to this.

Have you thought about getting the D/T  Element AU-79?  I do not know how well it handles carry down but there are a few being thrown around here and they roll pretty sweet with alot of pop on the backend.  You did say you really liked your D/T equipment.  So I checked your profile and saw where that wasn't in your arsenal.  It might be a good choice.  But I do not know much about D/T so I could be wrong.

The HE is supposed to handle more oil than the AU79, but still be as strong on the back. Plus the HE is the newest release.

My 2 cents ... get something to fill a void in your lineup and/or something versatile with an adjustable coverstock. Do your homework ... check out the threads and post in here and make an educated decision.

I may get a used AU79 soon, so thats why I'm not interested in using my freebie for it. I realize I have a gap in my arsenal, but I'm just trying to find what works best for the conditions I see the most. Then I'll try to fill in gap and narrow my arsenal down to 4-5 balls.

You should get one of the most expensive balls, Lane1. Maybe a Hybrid Dirty .
