Idea: 1st year free USBC Membership
« on: September 01, 2009, 12:19:01 AM »
Would this be an idea. Give free USBC memberships to those who are new and to those who haven't been a member in the past five years.

Just throwing this out there.

Why ? Most 'new people' will not shoot anything where they'll get any awards but a magnet. Most 'new people' won't do much but one league and that's not what they are there for. They want to have fun and just learn.

I can't see that bringing many to the leagues, JMO.

A $21 USBC membership is a drop in the bucket compared to weekly lineage costs.  Lower lineage, shorter seasons and centers actually advertising leagues with open spots would probably bring in those on the fence.

Are you sure that people would want USBC membership even if it was free?

I know USBC seems expensive at first but it is a one time fee. What I've tried to do but has failed to pass in the last few summer leagues is make sub fees not applicable in the summer league only to try to get more bowlers in the fall to join full time. We have one league that is 5 dollars a week for a sub fee and the other is 7 dollars. Oh, and this is a summer league that is like 12 weeks long or whatever and no one is going to make a killing off point money so who cares!
