Older balls had coverstocks formulated to handle the types of lane conditions, especially lane oil, that were in existence back then.
Chances are, to bowl on today's conditions you might do better to get something more current. It depends on how slick the lanes are where you bowl. If they are on the drier side the balls you have could still be very good after some maintenance (oil extraction, resurfacing).
