idiot at the bowling alley
« on: October 06, 2014, 02:27:43 PM »
I recently put a pink shoe lace on my left shoe for breast cancer. I lost a gf at the age of 31 - that was 11 years ago. Also, I had two aunties who lived through this ugly disease. Also, I use pink wrap (ace wrap) to protect my dry finger and pinky fingernail.

Anyway last night, an idiot (prolly from the gay league) made a comment about my "fashion statement" that it looks silly. I need some lessons on fashion or some sheet. He said it as he passed my pair and then turned and said something like - i want people to see how good I bowl with bright neon colors that don't match my shoes???? I didn't reply to his comment, just shook my head in disbelief.

I just can't believe some people. It briefly messed up my focus for a bit. Why do people get into other peoples business?  it's been 11 months since I knocked out someone because of their stupidity, but this guy isn't even worth it.   :P :( >:(

Does a round object have sides? I say yes, pizza has triangles..

Well, when you call someone an idiot for what he said (probably true assuming the context you used), then follow that with "prolly from the gay league" you lose any chance of support that you had.

Depends on whether or not the house has a Gay league bowling at the time.

I have to agree. When you say something like, "he was probably from the gay league," you kind of flush your own credibility down the crapper. In any case, it definitely sounds like the guy was an inconsiderate jackass, so I would've been tempted to very loudly and clearly explain why you wear what you wear in hopes that he would feel about 1/2" tall about what he had to say. Sadly though, people that ignorant and stupid are usually so oblivious that the comments may not have even phased him. As such, try to go with my rule: Don't argue with morons; it only leads to frustration. If that won't work and you just can't let it go, I would confront the guy (only with words) next time, explaining that you heard what he said, this is why you wear those things, and he can go cram it with walnuts if he doesn't like it.

We live in such a litigious society that people will sue you for anything. Not to mention, if you had placed your hand on this same individual, there's the possibility of being arrested for simple assault. It's not worth the stress, hassle, or potential legal cost(s).

Let it go, let it go!  Not worth it, but if you really, really have to, then tell him the significance, but bring a witness or two, then walk away.  Don't let childish banter bother you.

so are you assumimg just because I used the words "gay league" that I lose credit to what I said? Or that, you think there is no such thing as a "gay league"??? come visit the city I live in...Almost half of the patients in the building are gay/lesbian...people I take care of are gay, some terminal...it's my job and i love it. My good friend is gay and he never has a problem with me saying "Gay" but maybe you do....lol

Also, that's part of the name of the league. bowling center name "_______sunday gay league" or something like that with the word "gay" in it.

Edit: I stand corrected. the league name has changed...

The world is full of "idiots" and you'll need to get better at ignoring them before they drive you crazy.  I'm not sure what motivates people to comment when not solicited as if we really care what they think...

Your shoelace choice is significant to you and that's all that matters.

Now ain't that the truth! LOL

I know a guy here locally who has a pair of cowboy boots that have been resoled for bowling...and wears them with short pants, a half shirt that shows his midriff and a chain in his belly button that seems to go up under the shirt and attaches to his nipples! I don't mind the pink two-tone hair near as much as the belly button chain. LOL

We are NOT in Kansas anymore.  :o

The funny thing is, dude is a pretty good bowler.

I will never understand this with the league bowling comunity. Apparently there is some kind of dress code (I am guessing it is different from region to region) that we all must follow while we are bowling.
