I can't beleive what happened in league. A guy with eleven in a ROW decides he is going to get an 8 count on his last ball. WHY? HE WANTED A 298 RING!!!

WELL THE DUMB #%#^ GETS HIS 8 COUNT, then finds out there is NO 298 RING!!

THAT WAS PRETTY FUNNY!! He was steamed about it.

But this ticks me off....people like this should lose their USBC card.

Why? If he wanted to shoot 298, for whatever reason (including receiving an award, assuming it was available) then why say he shouldn't be able to do it if that's his goal?

It is funny he punked himself, but I don't understand why you seem to be upset about it?

Well bowlers have never be known to be the smartest group. But WOW they took away 298 rings two years ago didn't they? At least he gets the, 11 in a row award

I have a good friend who for a long time would "try" to get nine since he hadn't had 299. I told him several times how pathetic I thought it was to do something like that. I just don't have time for that.

As a bowler I thought it was about bowling your best on every ball.

Is it okay for someone to throw for a 8 or 7 count on their last ball to try for a triplicate score.

Or go for a Spare Count to get the DUTCH 200 achievement!!

How about someone not striking in the 10th to try for a ALL Spare Game? Eventhough his team might need him to strike. Hey its his goal...its all about him, right?

What kind of message is a bowler like this sending to other bowlers who don't have a 300?

It's basically stating 300 games are boring to that person any more and now they need to get every 290 something score because that's the challenge NOW!!

I guess a 292 is harder to get than a 300. USBC should abolish the 300 ring and now have the 292 RING!!!

A "300" used to mean something (PERFECTION!)...OBVIOUSLY IT DOESN'T NOW!!! So lets stop giving awards and recognizing them.

THE SHOT NEEDS TO GET TOUGH! To me this guy is a disgrace to the sport of bowling.

I really don't care that he throw the game for the 298 I think it is funny that he can't get the award.

As far as your talk about always trying to get the best score possible everytime that is a tough argument, I really don't try Super hard in league, not nearly as hard as I do tourneys. Not every bowler bowls to shot scores everytime he picks up the ball, some just bowl so they have a average to bowl tourneys. I really dont give a crap what I shot in league, is that a bad attitude? I bowl league to have a good time with some of my best friends not put up the huge score. If I wanted the huge score I would bowl at a easier house.

My question to you is this, Am I a disgrace because I go and bowl and don't care much about the score? Am I a disgrace because I dont try as hard as I probably should in leagues?

Okay Mainzer,

Let's take you argument back on you now. It's the last week of league. Your team is in 2nd place and bowling the 1st place team.

It comes down to the last game for the winner. You are telling me you could care less what happens? After all you are there to have a good time with your friends.....score doesn't matter right?

it's america people...the person can do whatever the hell he wants at the line as long as it's legal. Grow up. I mean really, who cares. This person is paying to play in the league and has the right to do anything within the rules. I don't see how people can get so mad that they even go to the internet to post it LOL. All i have to say is cry more, the wambulance might show up.

...its just about fun.....its not really competition...the awards really don't mean anything.....hey its just throwing a ball at a bunch of sticks....

Well even though he was a sub, someone had to pay for the person to bowl. I would be upset with the person if he/she haven't shot a 300 and or if the team needed those 2 pins to win the match. If not then I just don't see how people can mad at this. It's entirely up to the person on what his/her goals are. If you already have a couple of 300's but never shot a 298, then why not? You've already shot a 300 so it's just another score to say that you've shot in your lifetime.

Don't you like to compete? What's the point of going to league if you don't compete? I'm in a mix league now but I used to be in plenty of other leagues and tournaments...but regardless of what league or tournament I was in, I tried to do my best.

That's what I did. That's what I have been taught. Always try to do your best. Play within the rules. Don't cheat. Bowling, Golf, Football, Work and Life.

Please answer this question.

You are in a Regional Tournament (total of 8 games). You are starting the 8th game and there is no chance of you cashing. What do you do?
