So why DO so many people hate lane #1???
« on: February 05, 2005, 03:18:44 AM »
I am truly just curious. I mean, I see SOOOO many people who talk crap about lane #1, but do they really have any reason to, or are they just following what all the other haters say? Me personally, I couldnt care less. If the company works for you great, I have no problems with that. PLEASE, if the only reason you dont like Lane #1 is price, dont bother posting. I know their prices are ridiculous, but thats not what I'm asking. I can see that lane #1 is a good company, I just CANT STAND the people who think it is so much better then any other ball company. It really pisses me off that people can think one ball is better then another in that aspect. I also dont like the hype they put up about how they are a better company because of the blah blah blah, you know what I mean. So basically that is the only 2 reasons I dont like them though, the hype them and their followers make about how much better they are, and the price. What are your reasons for not likeing them?

I love my new Uranium!  I wanted to try one and see what the hype was about.  It is amazing.  Gets through the heads clean and winds up on the back.

I throw the Brunswick Zone and BVP line almost exclusively. I think that the cost for something round and does the same thing as several of the midline balls is the source for much of the trash talk.

Some people just prefer to buy Kia Rio's and some want to buy Cadillac Escalades. Some like to pay a little to get to work and some want to pay a little more and look pretty at work. Whatever makes them happy.

The above explains much of the trash talk against Lane#1. The problem is that it's not true.

I would guess that 90% of those who blast Lane#1 have no clue about what they are talking about. They've never owned one, or if they do, they don't have enough experience to provide an informed judgement.

The bottom line is that Lane#1 is different. That doesn't make it good or bad -- just different. If different in this case helps you score better, then it's probably worth it. If it doesn't it's not. In my case, it's given me a roll I haven't got from anything else, so they're worth a few extra bucks.

Just accept that a Lane#1 Solid Uranium is not a Brunswick Ultimate Inferno for $50 more. The covers are the same, but the similarities end there.

Go figure another Lane #1 debate again. I have the Carbide C Pearl and Carbide C Solid. Both are awsome. I have not found enough oil this year to be able to use them. The Solid Carbide C hooks out of the house. The Pearl Carbide C  has a very sharp break when it turns the corner. When they hit for me it is like nothing else at all. I would have to say they do hit harder then any Track ball I have ever used and also a little more the my Brunswick stuff. The only problem is they seem to hit to hard. Can't this site go a month or two without a debate on this subject. If people want to pay the few extra bucks for Lane #1 let them and let's let it go at that.

Well the MAIN point of my post was to see if people actually HAD a reason to bash lane #1 besides the fact that they cost more, thats all. (The only reason I say stuff about lane one is just to make jokes and stuff, but I've realized that some companies work good for some people, some dont. so it doesnt matter to me)

I dont hate lane 1 but i dont use them, I don't like all the saw headsw on here spouting of about their equipment when all they are is overpriced brunswick balls with average weight blocks.  I won't use them cause i rufuse to pay that much money for a average ball when i can buy any brunswick ball with a better weight block and the same cover for alot less money.  So all you buzz heads out there you keep wasting all that money and using that average equipment and ill keep hammering ya into the ground.  Also name one guy on tour that has used a lane one ball on a show, huh you know i have the last two seasons taped and cant recall one.

Thank you. You proved my point. Like many, you make sweeping assumptions without any experience using Lane#1 products. What a way to base opinions. Good input.

Some people will buy Lane 1 balls and some won't because of the cost. To me, the bottom line is whether the ball matches up to you or it doesn't. If a Lane 1 ball matches up to a person, then for most of the people that it matches up to, cost is not a factor if it helps their bowling. I bought 5 Lane 1 balls in hoping to get a couple to live up to all of the hype about them, but all failed  because they simply didn't match up to me well.

Yet, in trying to get the Lane 1 balls to match up for me, the costs didn't bother me as I was wanting to improve my control, hit, carry, and etc. that bad. To sum it up, Lane 1 balls work well for some people and don't for others. I was one of the "others." And to sum it up even further, with a person that really wants to bowl the very best he can, he won't let the cost of a ball keep him from buying the ball that fits him best.

I agree with Brickguy221.  I also tried quite a few Lane#1's (7) to see if they would match up with me.  I liked the way the C2's rolled for me but the Bomb core was just that for me.  For those who dont like the price, look for some used ones to try first.  Then you will know if they match up for you or not.

Back when I was paying $35 for NIB balls, if someone had told me I would be paying over $100 more for a ball, I would have thought they were crazy.

If I may chime in here from a ball driller standpoint....

Lane1 doesn't have distributors, we would have to order direct from NY (hassle), and we would have to pay freight (hassle) unless we bought 4 (hassle), then we get free s/h and 1 free ball.

No thanks, we'll suggest a ball half as much that will give a similar, if not superior, reaction.
