Hook Monsters
« on: November 15, 2014, 05:42:37 PM »
I am searching for the strongest balls in the front part of the lane. Not looking for the backend (Hy-Road Pearl, Fortera Exile, etc.) I am looking for balls like the Mastrrmind, Hyper Cell, Guru, etc. What ball would you recommend?
League: Pitch Purple, Destiny Magenta
Testing: MVP
Interests: Black Widow, Proof Solid, Idol Pearl

Look at any of the big hook HP balls. Adjust surface as needed to hook earlier as needed. Surface is key.

Original Mastermind and the new Intellect are strong. The intellect has more length. The Guru looks to be longer as well. Surface on either can get an earlier move and still cover a lot of boards. DV8 would have to be the Ruckus Fued.

Ive not seen enough oil to keep any of the hook monsters around.

Isn't the Disorder and the GB2 similar to an IQ Tour?

I have the Disorder and IQ Tour solid. I threw the GB2 at and Ebonite demo days last week.

I'd say the IQ Tour and GB2 are pretty similar, with the Disorder being a little stronger. I don't consider any of the three as heavy oil balls in the category of the Guru, Jackal, or Crux.

Its also not in the video but more flare isn't always more hook. A good way to make a HP ball look like crap is go over board on layout and surface. I'm not a Storm guy so I may be wrong.

Just me, but i dont have a need for a heavy oiler, medium pieces with stronger layouts and/or surface suits me.
heavy oiler pieces need a ton of oil to be able to be used for more than a few games at best
they sure displace the oil and its usually in the heads, then nobody is happy

I don't disagree with your assessment. I was providing information in context to the OP's original request.
