If you had a choice...
« on: August 30, 2006, 08:23:52 AM »
To begin with I throw basically all Dyno-Thane.  The situation that I may be in shortly is the opportunity to get VERY cheap equipment because of collegiate bowling.  I'm sure others on here know what I'm talking about.  My coach has said that we would get better deals from the larger companies.  The 2 he deals with all the time are Columbia and Ebonite.  If you had to choose between the 2, which one would you go for and for what reason?

i would go ebonite, mostly because it has the one series that is great, but i hear amazing thigs about the sr300. plus there low end balls are pretty good too. columbia has there fair shair of greats too, but i personally dont think there are as many at the moment as there are ebonite. altho i must add my favorite ball ive ever owned so far is the action packed...

Columbia.  M80 and Superflex seem like great covers.  SF has been around forever and is very durable.

Plus they make DT now.

Oh, goodness, someone is going to jump on me.  I have found very little Ebonite that I like other than the Savage Flip.  Frankly, I think the Columbia reactives are just better.

Columbia.

The Action series is an arsenal in itself, and with the Jinx/Hyjinx and Wrath/Wrath XP out there...you've got a selection to do almost anything.

That's weird.  When I was at Junior Gold, one of the other bowlers said that he could get deeply discounted balls through collegiate bowling from every company...except Ebonite.  Hmmm.

Brunswick has the best pricing package for collegiate bowlers but are very slow in expiditing orders.  I've had some orders take up to 8-10 weeks.  Your coach probaly perfers to deal with Columbia and Ebonite because they are very fast in getting orders out.  I know my senior year of college I bought a package from Ebonite/Hammer on the school's Visa and it was at the campus 5 days later.  That's sick turnover time.  Best of luck to you and hopefully we'll cross paths this year.

From my own personal experience with both companies for MY GAME, I would choose Columbia hands down.

I'm just not very impressed with the initial consistency or longevity of Ebonite's equipment. JMO.

Does anyone know, does this apply only to NCAA collegiate bowling?

If you're a male, you don't have the choice to bowl NCAA anyways...So in other words, no it doesn't.

Depends on the style.  Down and in or higher ball speeds, I would say columbia.  Using more lane and looking for angularity and better carry...Ebonite.

So ebonite doesnt give good deals?  I havent heard anything for sure company wise.  I think that in the past they were giving good deals but that could be different now as there hasnt been a team here in a few years.  I'm kinda torn myself between the 2 companies.  I have a One and had a lot of success with it but dont like the amount of cleaning you have to do to keep the reaction.  Do columbia covers have the same issues?  havent thrown a columbia ball since the rock series.
