bowling execution
« on: November 03, 2007, 09:30:34 AM »
Has anybody read this book by John Jowdy? A friend gave it to me and said that it might help. Has anybody had success with their bowling after reading this book?

I found the book to have a lot of higher skill techniques rather then basic beginners.  And I also was not really a fan of all the editorials "I fixed so and so by doing this".  But its in my library of bowling books.  I guess it depends on where you are at in your bowling skill and what you can get out of it.  I think there's something for everyone in there, but I also think that if you are a beginner there's some better books.

I read a couple of different books when I first started bowling.  I have this book, but I don't know if I can say that I really remember it.

Atochabsh makes me think this is the book where the author does a lot of name dropping - worked with such and such pro and helped him place higher, fixed so and so's armswing and helped him cash in 3 times as many events than the previous year, etc.

There are probably some good things in the book.  I've found that most of the books are going to have some good things - you just might have to pick 3 or 4 books and figured out which parts are going to help your game.

The thing that I found about most of the bolwing books is that you need to read them a couple times to really get anything out of them.

I will go through mine and hi-light things, so later, I can go back and pick out different things that I feel I need to work on. By hi-lighting them, it just makes it easier to find later.

Of course the book Focused For Bowling, I have hi-lighted pretty much every page. Everytime I go back to the book, I seem to find something new or understand something a little better.

A "friend" recommended the book.  Read it.  Evaluate it yourself.
