Would like to find out how many of you are from Illinois. Like some of the other states, would be nice to get a group together at a central location to bowl and get to know each other. I am from the Joliet area.
WHERE IS EVERYONE FROM ILLINIOS FROM?????

I not sure. I was -191. which 200 pins better than the last time. I still need to nail down my form because those lanes have no mercy!
last month I had about 2 boards of area before a split or washout would happen. the midlane was not so tight so the backend open up a little. I would say I had about 4 - 6 boards. but speed control was key because if you missed left I saw a lot of 2,4,10's three by me alone!
I will be Willowbrook next Sunday mourning. 9:00am
fresh oil, heavy, 2 bucks a game!
I have a three ball visionary bag roller with me. 5-10 and fat. Buzz short hair and glasses. throwing Track stuff. come on up.

Bob H. Yes I bowl at Town and Country on monday nights 1st league. If you bowl the second one are you bowling with Tom Hinz and Chris Regas. They drill all my stuff along with Brian Hirner. Chris Regas just did a post on the Fear Factor (cregas). Yes he should like it, two 300 games and a 855 series, not bad for a 20n year old. He will be shooting Regionals next year. If we can get enough people together from Illinois maybe we can schedule a day of bowling and getting to know each other.
Omega, yes the 8 game marathon makes you a better bowler, not an easy shot but many good shooters. Definitely makes a normal league shot seem easy.
TO ALL ILLINOIS BOWLERS, KEEP THE POST GOING AND WE WILL SEE IF WE CAN SET A DATE FOR SOME FUN.
-
the shot was not impossible today by any means. but it's not a typical League shot. I was close enough that on a THS I would have shot + 200 easy. To many splits by missing 2 boards right within the first 30 feet. It will make you a better bowler thats for sure.
I'm told they have a late Thursday or Tuesday league that has a tough shot. I would like to bowl on that. If I can avg 200 + on a tougher shot, I would feel better about avg 200.
right now I avg 200 and I not that good. I throw about 1 out of 3 ball right I know on a tough shot I could get up 200 after a year or so.

Why change balls? I can miss my target with any of them!

Well, I have only bowled 3 marathons, but the condition really isn't that tough. Last time I bowled a top gun tournament, that made the 8 gamer look silly easy. Woody is just so brutal with his patterns.
Anyways, I bowl up at Bowling Green on Monday nights, and I think until I leave for Reno, I will be up at Fox Bowl working on the ABC shot.
Can't miss me. Little bald guy with too much attitude, and am also throwing Track stuff. Come watch Nape, Moores, and Sammy the mechanic make fun of me.

Signature Removed by Webmaster, and darn proud of it!
Would that happen to be Mike BIGUN Nape? Looks like you have some very tough competition in that area.
I'm from Alton, Il, could probably think up a good enough excuse to get up there.

I'm from the Southwest Side of Chicago, and now live out in Orland Park. I think it would be great to organize an event if we can get enough people together.

Angstfilled, I agree the 8 game is not the toughest shot but it is harder than the normal league shot at most lanes, I guess Reno's oil pattern is really tough. The Town and Country Teams that won the ABC's two years ago just got back and said it was like the oil was put on with a paint brush, no room for error. They also had the Reno pattern put down at Town and Country but they said it didn't play like Reno!!!!
Omega, yes they have a Thursday night (9:15pm) Majors at Town and Country, mostly top bowlers from around the Chicago land area.
Rick Wunder, I take it you work for Bill Spigner???? Nice shop and nice lanes, I enjoyed the PBA event this year at Hawthorne.
I will do another post with some questions for everyone.
-
There's a possibility my employer might relocate me to Joliet in the next month, how are the scratch tournaments up there and are there any good scratch leagues on fridays, saturdays, or sundays?
-
Let me know who would definitely be interested in getting together and suggestions on when would be a good time. I know I could set something up at Town and Country in Joliet, nice 44 lane house.
Illinois is a big and long state so I know Joliet is not REALLY good for the bowlers from southern Illinois but if this thing goes over and we have a good turnout and interest to do it again we can then select other sites. This is not cast in stone as far as a site if everyone would rather move it further south?????????? Open for suggestions.
Anyone interested in helping set this up let me know, who knows what it could grow into. Its all about bowling, meeting new people and having fun.

Dale Christensen,
On behalf of Bill and Barb Spigner, I thank you for your compliments regarding Hawthorn Lanes.
I worked for Bill until last May, when he sold the shop to assistant pro Brian Chilcutt, for whom I now work. It is now called "Striking Difference Pro Shop," but if you were to come in today, you would not see much of a difference in appearance. Actually, when you attended the PBA event last October, the shop had already changed hands, but you may not have even noticed. BTW, on behalf of Brian, I also thank you for the compliments regarding the shop.
I, too, enjoyed the PBA event last year and I look forward to the tour coming again next year.

Rick, I am just getting old (59)yes, now I remember that Brian was the new owner. Put the Spigners and Brian together you not only have very knowledgable pro shop people but what a top level group of bowlers. Anyone who hasn't been to Hawthorne Lanes is missing a CLASS establishment. They put on a great show. Hopefully if we can put an event together with Illinois Ballreviews bowlers we will all meet.
-
Twister,
The top scratch league is the Thursday Night Majors at Town and Country at 9:15pm. But there are many good mens leagues and some great women bowlers also at T & C. Let me know if you relocate as there are a number of good houses in the area and I will get you the information.

Northwest suburbs here as well. Sub at Brunswick Niles regular at Classic up the street. As for the ABC comment earlier I would not call it a tough shot, I would call it a shot that you need to be able to repeat on. Once you get lined up you have to hit the same shot each time.
