Forget all other factors. It's about lane conditions. Period. In my area, there is a series of traveling scratch tournaments. In my home house last year, they left in our regular everyday house shot. These are the best bowlers in our area, and the cut after 4 games was +131. The top qualifier had 1030 and the 16th qualifier had 931. Pretty impressive scores. This year at my home house they decided to put in PBA pattern A. The cut this year was -15. The top qualifier had 845 for 4 games and the 16th qualifier had 785. I'm sold. It's all about lane conditions. Forget balls, technology, cranker, stroker, revs, etc...The lane conditions are the single biggest factor to high scores, or lack there of.
