Balls gettnig chipped/knicked...
« on: August 12, 2004, 12:33:24 AM »
It seems like every other time I bowl, I have a new gash in my main strike ball (Animal). Granted I throw it twice as much as my plastic spare, but some of these holes are huge
All these alleys have signs that are not responsible. Can I patch these?? Or not worry about it until it thumps down the lane and chews up the boards.

If it's not in the track, don't worry about it.
If it's not a major defect IN the track, I wouldn't worry about it.

It would depend on what you call holes.  If the marks look like razor cuts, that's normal.

If it is really putting holes in the ball, that is something to bring to the attention of the alley.

Remember a new ball is like a new car.  Sooner or later it's going to get scratched up.

That happened to a buddy I bowl with twice last year, with fairly new equipment (bought within a month or so prior to the incident).  One ball they fixed no charge -- The other one they replaced w/another brand new one --- I don't mind a nick or two myself as long as it's not in the track, but the house should make it good (at their expense) if it's something out of the ordinary...

Same thing happens to me man. I bowl on all wood lanes, so that is part of it. The ball returns are always gashing/scrating/goudging my balls! GRRRR

The lanes put up the signs, but i've talked to a lawyer friend of mine about it and she said that if the lanes were responsible for the damage, they are responsible for the repair.

If it's really a quarter sized hole in the track, then u can get it plugged at the pro shop. I've had two balls damaged recently. I had a full ring of semi deep scratches around my Detour that the bowling alley's pro shop resurfaced for me. The other day my Ultimate Inferno got a big quarter sized burn mark in the track along with a big ding. The proshop sanded down the burn mark, patched up the ding, and got it back to me in one day. They did a great job on it. Unfortunately not many centers do this, and most ppl put their balls at risk when the bowl. But yeah dings and nicks will happen all the time. More so in an old center.

try a ebonite v2 particle..it will never scratch....well at least until you get it to the lanes.....darn this scratches almost every other shot.

not much you can do....if its reactive resin the house doesnt have to be responsible....if there is a thunk, get it plugged/patched...you can try to whine to them, if they do it...good, if not...whip out the wallet
