Which pro's game does yours most resemble?
« on: February 27, 2006, 04:54:20 PM »
I'm not asking who your favorite pro is, or if you've been told your face is the spitting image of Jason Couch's face. (g) I'm talking about whose game do you most emulate?

You don't have to be as good as they are, obviously. If your approach, arm swing, etc., look like Tommy Jones, but you average 170, your game still looks like Tommy Jones' game.

I was watching bowling on ESPN Classic today and found a match between Gary Dickinson and Gene Stus. Although I'm just 32, I realized my arm swing, revs, where I like to play the ball, etc., looked almost exactly like Gene Stus did. I'm also a big guy like Gene was, although I'm not quite as tall. Now all I need to do is win a bunch of tournaments. (g)

Of the current pros, it's hard to say. I would probably have to pick a right-handed Rick Lawrence, but that's just because I don't know a lot of righties that are "power-tweeners."

What about you?

Jess

After seeing the most recent video of Pete Webber and then comparing my own current video to his style, I would say that I resemble PDW with a lower backswing. My Ball Revs look to be about the same as his compared. Just what i think, have been told that too.

Pretty much Jason Couch, minus the goodness, I'm working on a more Chris Barnes like release, but that will take a while.

Probably have to say Brian Kretzer, I have soft speed and a huge drift, but I like to play it straighter than he does. Too bad that I absolutely hate the guys attitude.

I've been told Patrick Healey, but I don't have the elbow bend on the follow through, or near his accuracy

I have never seen myself on tape but I'll say Tom Baker. I like to watch him bowl because it always reminds me that LESS is MORE.

I wish my game resembled one of the big boys past or present.

Some of the posts here are cracking me up gang ... Just like Shafer, but I'm not as clean at the release point and don't have his balance at the line or his speed and my swing is more inside out and I'm not quite as square at the line and I plant instead of sliding and use a 7-step release ... but other than that, you can't tell us apart!

Steve Wilson, but much stronger ball. Cross with him and Tommy Jones but a much smaller backswing.

At my very best...like Eric Forkel with hair!  No sunglasses!

At my worst Eric Forkel dropping it andthrowing it 13 mph!!!

He doesn't do either!

I'd like to throw with Dave Davis speed...can't get there.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS if you know what I mean at times I've had just as much fist in the ball as Eric if not a bit more...at my worst...not even close.  Do you know what I mean fist in the ball? VEry level and very much complete control of when the ball comes off the hand!

I guess the closest to me at any point on the PBA is my style now---compared to Bob Vespi---Remember him.

I have a hitch in my armswing---not as severe as his was. My hand is actually less rigid than his was with his cocked wrist. But if anyone, I would have to say him.
