looking for something to fill a hole
« on: June 30, 2004, 10:07:22 AM »
Right now I am looking to find a good ball to fit into my arsenal(i hate that word).  Right now I use a Power groove reactive(dry and spares), Player(med to heavy), and an Xfactor(med carrydown, heavy with clean backs).  I would like something between my pg and player.  The last few tournaments and summer league, the patterns have been longer but dry, the pg really is not finishin like i am use to and the player and X are way to strong even if i take revs off and stay behind the ball.  I have tried everythin but a ball change.  I was thinkin about the ice, pg dull reactive, panic, hot wire, or the new roto mid price.  Any suggestions woulld be greatly appreciated.  Company does not matter, stats are leftie, med to high revs, med to high speed, can change release points but i like 45 degree release

thanks

Well...I can't help TOO much here, except that I can say that the Hot Wire probably would be too strong for that condition (or maybe too early is the right word?) but I might suggest the Sonic Boom...it seems you need the length of the Sonic series but the movement of something a little stronger.  Or, if you need stronger still, maybe a Silver Streak Pearl.  Haven't seen too much on the new Super Sonic, so I can't make a suggestion either yay or nay on that one.

I think you need to rethink the title of this thread...(lol, or maybe you did that on purpose)

Sounds like you want medium with good recovery from outside.  A lot of it will be layout, but I would recommend a Roto Grip Sonic Boom.  That ball generally gets pretty long and has pretty good recovery from the outside.  Another ball (one that I just had drilled) would be The Hero by Circle Athletics.  The Hero again is pretty long with very good recovery from the outside.  Both of these balls get clean through the heads and even long through the mids before making a strong move in the backend.

If you're looking for a mid-lane reaction, you could have your pro shop guy/gal drill either of them accordingly.

I'd recommend the Monster Bruiser over the dull Power Groove Reactive.  I'll give you an earlier read, and a strong recovery without the hard bounce that the PGs tend to have.

I'm surprised Steve Smith hasn't offered you a plug yet! LOL.
