inconsistent lanes
« on: December 27, 2014, 08:42:56 PM »
every week year around I bowl in a 10 lane house. The shot is never the same.
They oil right before the day leagues. You never know what ball reaction your going to get. When I watch the pro's bowl and 2 bowlers by the 2nd game have changed the lanes it makes me feel sorry for them. What does having 10 right handed seniors using plastic, urethane, rubber and new reactive balls to play any where they can hit do to the lanes lol.  Hate those soft house shots.  The Pro's complain we have it to easy. I don't understand do you ?

Every ball rolled changes the oil pattern in one way or the other.  Polyester and rubber balls are likely moving the oil to the back ends, while the reactives are absorbing some with each shot.

Add to that the varying lane surfaces and lane machines and it's no wonder why things change.  We bowl on a mostly "invisible" and changing condition all the time.  That's the part of the sport that many of us enjoy.  If I knew before I arrived that I'd be sliding on ___ board and targeting at ___ board and the reaction was the same each time and all night I'd lose interest fast.  Embrace the challenge of the game and find enjoyment in the process, and you'll be hooked for life.
