Tried out the Warily Software Program, Frames Demo version for my PDA and it looks like a pretty good thing to track stats.

It lays out pretty easily I think I am going to buy the program.

Game count: 3
Average: 193.6
High Game: 214
Low Game 174
Strike %: 39 (13/33)
Pocket %: 66 (22/33)
Pocket Strike %: 50 (11/22)
Spare %: 81 (13/16)
Single Pin %: 87 (7/8)
Split %: 6 (2/33)

It also gives info on your spare leaves based on actual pins left and the times you are able to pick them up.  

If you have a PDA you might want to look at it the demo version is free and holds 6 games per bowler.

Downloaded the Demo version for Pocket PC. It is still in the beta testing, not all the functions seem to yet. I like the ideal but the problem I see is loading the info while your bowling so you don't forget the pin counts. The problem I have had is that now I have sync issues and I can't get the frames software deleted. I do like the software.

I have been demo-ing it as well. I just dont see the all the benifits of its use. I think WRW uses it to assist with his website and not directly related to his bowling.  While statistics are great they in no part help your game. Tacking starting/ending positions on any particular night at any particular center on any particular patern seems useless. Everything is independant on each night and what happened last time might not happen this time.

It might point out lapse of concentration or problems with shooting particular spares but the bottom line is you should not miss ANY makable spares and I dont need to know that I make 10 pins 88%... my goal is 100% and am always working on it.

One side benifit however is that while concentrating on entering the data on each shot I am otherwise distracted from bowling. It is a ood program and I know alot of people who do this kinda thing by hand for every game they bowl. This is faster (once you get used to it), it has benifits of importing into spreadsheets and databases. So it does what it does and for that it is cool.

pin-chaser - Not everything in bowling is going to to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.  However I think if bowlers were to track bowling stats and frame by frame statistics you would see patterns develop that can help most bowlers out by increasing the margin for error.  You have been bowling for quite some time and must know your game really well so you know when to move and what to adjust.  However there are alot more bowlers that do not and so this wouldb e a great tool for them don't you think?

For instance. If you stand at "X" and throw at "Y" to pick up the 10 pin and you notice that your percentage of conversion is low and that you have a tendency to miss more to one side.  Hard to think by the way since you can pick up the 10 by a 7 board margin of error. By adjusting your "X", "Y" or both "X" and "Y" you may help increase your margin of error for when you send it wide or tug.

The same holds true for pocket hits and leaving a 4 pin or 10 pin.  You may develop a pattern that tells you that you should be adjusting faster even though you are still in the pocket.

This is a tool that I think can help a great number of bowlers figure out where their weakness lies.  Plus I like to have gadgets.

Doc,

  No arguments here at all with your statement. And I love gadgets too. For me, it might be abit more fun than productive, but for begining students of the game it might well be a valuable tool. I dont discount that.
