inserts problem
« on: December 22, 2009, 09:44:07 AM »
how do you know your fingers inserts are too loose fitting? my fingers fit past the first knuckle and all my teammates have there fingers tight and barley in there. they tell me its a feel thing and it helps them have a more consistent release and more revs. what do you think? should i get smaller ones and try them out?

It's all about feel...there is a line where they are TOO loose or TOO tight.  Those problems can lead to squeezing and extra grip pressure.  This is the same thing as the "grips vs. no grips" debate and Vacu Grips as well.  The feel isn't a right or wrong thing...it's whatever works.

I use Vacu-Grip insert's and have the fitment snug. I do this for personal feel not to gain rev's. If you like how the grip's you currently have feel then there's no real reason to change them unless you want to experiment with feel. Technically your insert's are too big if you can put your finger's in past the 1st knuckle without forcing them but if that's how you like it then is it really wrong?

if you have a thumb slug it would take a pro shop 10 minutes to to change re-drill it and change finger inserts for ya .you should'nt be squeezing the ball at all.i use vacu-grips for fingertips and about 50-60 games i get them changed becuase they do wear some and can tell a difference.since changing to the vacu grips i love them for feel and seem to get more lift from them.

good luck

If your fingers tend to swell you can go with slightly "loose" grips. Only glue the front and sides. This will allow you to add and remove "shims" to tighten or loosen them as nec. The shims can be made from pieces of a business card or a matchbook cover depending on how thick of a shim you need
