Insidebowling.com oil pattern
« on: May 04, 2011, 02:09:09 AM »
www.insidebowling.com is hosting a tournament here in St. Louis at Crest Bowl May14th and 15th and here is the pattern.  I was just curious to see what other opinions of it were about where to play and with what kind of equipment/layouts.

Looks to me like your breakpoint will be somewhere around the 12-13-14 board. They're putting ALOT of oil on the lanes.I would start with low RG-high diff dull equiptment, hand up the back of the ball and play a tight line to the pocket.Speed will be important. You'll be using your spare ball alot.Don't give the pocket away and cover your spares.Hopefully, with the lane surface being wood with a Guardian overlay, they'll start to open up some where you can move left a little and have some miss to the right and some hold to the left.Good Luck.

Get yourself a "burn ball", something 500 grit or lower. Go up 11-12, you want to burn this up. Your breakpoint should be @ 13-14, so you want some miss right. There appears to be more than enough hold. Id use something strong with surface thats pin up so you get some change of direction downlane.

I was seriously thinking of bowling this tournament but whenever i checked the website on entries, there were only like 6 or 7 people on it signed up. Since i would be coming from Ft Worth, i decided not to come up given the low entries. How many bowlers are actually signed up?? I  would have loved to bowl this tourney but they need to do a better job of updating their website if they want scratch bowlers from further out to make the trip like me and make it worth it.

paid entries are slow to come in.  I think its up to 30 that are paid at the moment, but there verbal commitments and entries are expected to be around 100+.

The tournament now has 76 paid entries and at least 40 walk ins that I know of for sure.  The phone is blowing up and there is tons of local media support.  We were on Fox2 and Nbc channel 5 today.

As far as updating the website, we can't do a better job because it was for paid entries only.

Hopefully next year you will want to be part of this event.  It's going to be a good one.  Live streaming all weekend long.

If someone can solve how to convince bowlers to sign up in advance for a first year tournament, please give me the solution.
