Can anyone tell me why a ball would develop a crack the entire circumference of the ball when it is just sitting on a bedroom floor?  I have had 3 balls develop a crack around the entire ball and another ball have the bridge crack out just from sitting on my bedroom floor.  Now, I have heard of balls cracking because of severe temperature differences due to keeping them in the trunk of your car, truck, SUV.  But, never heard of someone warn me about balls going out of commission from sitting on bedroom, living room, or dining room floors.  Before you members speculate, the house I live in is kept at 72 degrees in the summer and 68 in the winter time.  The balls are not thrown around, dropped, or abused in any way.  All rooms are carpeted.  The 3 balls I have had do that, are the Triton Heat, Columbia Scout/R, and the original Ebonite Trimax.  The bridge cracked out of a Wine Tour Boss.  Has anyone else had the same problem?  Also.....what can be done to prevent this in the future?

Actually, no.  A couple were inside my closet and one was right next to the bed, but on the other side from where the window is.  This seems strange to me that a ball does this.  What makes it funnier, yet, is that for the most part, I do keep my equipment in the trunk at least 300 days a year if not more, and NEVER had a ball crack out or split from that.  I do live in a place where we do get wind chills below 0 and heat indexes of 100+ in the summer.  Go figure.

Do you have a forced air furnace and air comditioning with floor vents and if so, is it possible the balls were sitting to close to the vents?

I had a Danger Zone that I used for a couple of months, put it in the locker at the center, and when I next went to use it after the summer off, it was cracked all the way around the ball.  The center was open for the summer so it was somewhat temperature controlled, and that was before I started cleaning the balls in hot water.  Brunswick replaced the ball with no problems.  

I had another ball, the Omega LM, that I used extensively one season, put it in my closet, and when I pulled it out for the next season, it had cracked all the way round the ball.  It was sitting in my bowling bag so I did not notice the crack until I removed it at the center.  

I would also be curious to find out why this happens only to some balls.
