I've just been "disappointed" for the third time in 2 weeks
(And you know if I'm using the word disappointed in quotes, my feeling right now is a lot more intense than what this word implies.)
Yet a third person here at ballreviews, and this is a 2nd one withwhom I have dealt previously so I trusted his word, made a verbal committment of such intensity. I have gotten such replies as,
"I have to have this ball",
"I desperately want this ball",
"I beg you to hold this ball for me until I get payment for the one I am selling",
and also
"Give me your address. I'll have the money order in the mail tomorrow."
Then one day or 2 weeks goes by and I get this,
"I found it cheaper" or
"I got it closer", or
"my girl friend won't let me buy it." or
just plain no response at all.
Hey, I understand lots of questions, I understand a little haggling, altho' I price most NIB balls at a loss, just to get rid of them. After all I am not a dealer. Used balls, every one looks like it is completely unused except for the finger holes. I have even shipped balls before I got the money. I understand many other reasons which are not excuses.
What I don't understand is when people make statements like the above, which, if they were witnessed by someone, would be leaglly binding. What I don't understand is a lack of ethics or morals, whatever you want to call it.
You don't make a committment in writing or verbally unless you intend to keep it, or is that just too old-fashioned. You don't break a committment because it's not convenient. You don't make a committment because it is conveient. Well, I don't, anyway.
I guess from now on, without cash in hand, tell me any damned thing you want; just don't whine at me and don't ask me to "hold" any balls for you, without a deposit. You get the ball when I see cold hard cash. If any of my future replies seem a little pessimistic or cold, you won't wonder why.
To be honest, I ha dthought most of the people here were different. OK, you've taught me my lesson. I wonder if your average Ebay buyer has more ethics than I have seen here lately.
FWIW, if anyone dares to tell me publicly or privately that I'm whining, I'll will send you a private message that will make the paint on the walls blister. If it's callow and jaundiced you want, then that's what I'll be.
