Interesting PGA commercial
« on: October 04, 2003, 02:00:27 AM »

Was watching television and saw a golf commercial where they finish with something like "Tired of water in your shoes...tired of sand in the cuffs...try bowling."  Still not sure whether it was supposed to be a slap of some sort, but it was at least a bowling mention

I saw it and felt outraged. I nearly threw one of my bowling balls through the television. I mean come on they don't even carry thier own equipment. If any of you saw the Best Damn Sport Show Period episodes with Pete Weber he even said how much weight a bowler carries each year just counting throwing shots, without even adding taking the equipment to and from the car and going lane to lane. He also said how many miles we walk just going through our approach.

I know i'm probably getting anoying already but golfers can see thier hazards and where everything is. Lane oil is transparent. The only way to know if there is an out of bounds is to throw the ball there and see if it reacts.

I guess now that I got myself all pissed off again. I guess we'll never find out which sport requires more skill unless we can learn to take an unbiased view of both sports and then analyze it all then. But odds are that will never happen.

Hey michelle, when the PGA mentions bowling in a commercial, trust me, it's a slap.

Haven't seen that one yet...

I never saw it, but I'd have to assume, strictly from your words, that it means if you're tired of some of the hazards (water, sand, etc) of playing on a golf course, play a game where you won't "get dirty", bowling.

I'd guess they are implying something of the sort, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

I'd interpret that as a criticism of bowling.

Sounds like good ol' fashioned competition to me.  It would be nice to see the PBA answer that commercial with a little criticism of their own.  All publicity is good publicity...usually.

That sounds to me like a PBA commercial run during a golf tournament. It was probably shown on ESPN. I'm not sure, but that is my bet. =:^D

I believe it was ABC, but it was definitely not a PBA commercial unless they are now showing the PGA license and zero PBA logo.
