At first I thought it strange that I would have to give so many releases from practice or matches due to academic competitions. We had our regional match in Killeen about 3 hours away. We took a school bus for the trip. They went directly to the lanes. One of our matches we draw Shoemaker the defending state girls runner up's. I'm standing there giving Evelyn instructions on what to do on the lanes in Italian/Latin! She and I were the only ones that knew what we were talking about and there was a bunch of funny looks from people. "Evelyn Tre, Sinistra". They shocked Shoemaker and beat them!
Over the last 2 years that I have coached the girls they have came in second in the district and made it to state 2004. They went undefeated in district play and were district champions 2005 (83-7). Placed 5th at regionals and went to state again where they improved.
With all the bowling, academics always comes first no matter what. I have ladies that want to be nurses and even one that wants to be a podiatrist!
