Is 3 leagues to many?
« on: August 29, 2008, 04:11:25 AM »
I was bowling in 2 leagues this winter, Tuesday and Thursday. Just the other day I got asked to sub in a league in evansville, at the end of the night they asked me to be a full time member, I accepted. it seems now I am wondering if I can handle 3 days a week? Tuesday, Wednsday, and Thursday.

Anyone elsae bowl 3 times a week. BTW I am 22 if that matters

I used to bowl 4 nights a week, but I was younger, lived very close to the Bowling Alley, and Saturday night was Travel Scratch League and we went all over three counties.

Now I bowl Tuesday night, Thursday morning (senior league) and a bunch of us get together and practice every Sunday morning (cheap bowling). I would bowl more if DW would allow it.

Its ok I guess as long as you are single with no kids, time is something you just can't get back , you can make another buck but you can't get any time back

$33 a week for three leagues is CHEAP! I'm looking at

Well my home house is cheap at 9 dollars a night, the Evansville one is 15 a night, and I forgot to mention it is like 22 miles away from where I live, so thats atleast 2 1/2 gal of gas.

I definitly think it will help my game, I will also still be practicing during my aleast one day of the week.

My thumb might be my only possible issue I guess

I did 3 leagues per week at the end of last season and will be doing 3 leagues again this season.  It's the right amount for me.

I used to have problems with my thumb swelling and getting sore after several games.  I shortened my span by 1/8th of an inch, changed my pitches from 3/8" reverse 3/8" away to 1/8 reverse, 0 lateral.  I also started wearing Vise Hada patch on the back of my thumb.  And finally, I got a couple different interchangeable thumb inserts drilled up (Vise IT brand, by far the best of the interchangeable thumbs!!) so that I have one tighter and one looser to accomodate changing thumb sizes without relying on 80 pieces of tape being changed per night.  I am loving the results.  I bowled 21 games in two and a half days recently in a tournament and had zero problems with my thumb or fingers.

I know many that going to three was just too much, but then again I know others that bowl 3 and its nothing to them, they'd bowl more if they could.

I just know that financially I can't afford 3 weeks and I just bowl one league full time and then sub in two others.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their BRUNSWICK ball.

Joe, I love ya to death, but here's what I'M forking out over the first 2 weeks:

Tuesday night scratch trio = $23 per night
Wednesday night 5-man league = $25 per night
Thursday night mixed 4-person scratch = $20 per night (the cheapie )

SO...for the first two weeks, I'll be paying:

Tuesday night 1st week = 23/23/18 (for USBC Sanction)
Wednesday night 1st week = 25/25
Thursday night 1st week = 20/20
Tuesday night 2nd week = 23/23
Wednesday night 2nd week = 25/25
Thursday night 2nd week = 20/20

$290

AND...that's hoping that I find a sponsor for the Thursday night league (otherwise another $30) AND Angela just got back into bowling, and is bowling the Tuesday and Thursday night scratch leagues....so add ANOTHER $190 for her last 2 weeks + the first 2 weeks + her sanction!!!  UGH!!!! Why can't we be in a Checkers league or something!

$33 a week for three leagues is CHEAP! I'm looking at:

Monday ..... $22
Wednesday .. $16
Thursday ...  $7 (senior league)

Monday has a Sponsor fee $10 per man and Sanction fee of $17

Monday and Wednesday require last 2 weeks paid before 3rd week of bowling.

Cost me:
Monday 1st week 22/22/17/10 = $71
Tuesday 1st week 16/16 ---------- =  32
Wednesday 1st week 7------------= 7
Monday 2nd week 22/22 ----------=44
Tuesday 2nd week 16/16 ---------=32
Wednesday 2nd week 7 -----------=7

Two weeks of bowling $193

That's what I've been saying all the while BOWLERS ARE LOSING INTEREST DUE TO COST!

Two years ago I bowled in 6 league in 5 days.  Then last year I cut it back to three and bowled a lot better.  I don't know, depends on the person I guess.
