Is it illegal
« on: July 10, 2011, 12:20:34 PM »
We bowl on a sanction double league on Sunday. There's a team decide to request the lane guy not to oil their pair and trying to be sneaky on it. But they got caught. Is it legal to do some action like this?

Interesting food for thought. When lanes are checked yearly they look at one pair of the houses choice. They check to make sure it is level, run tape to check the oil, and check I think the gutters/kick boards area and that is it. They do this until one pair passes and that is it. Since approx two years ago there is no penalty to the center for any of these things not meeting USBC guidelines. So just like the minimum three units of oil, it has no enforcement. If you shoot scores your scores are still sanctioned.

Three units of oil is very minimal and that's the least amount on the boards, whether 1st board or 20th board. There's 39 boards and they have to have at least three units! That's the reason for all the "Wall of China" house shots in most towns! Minimal oil on the outside boards and flood the middle portion!!!

Train a child up in the way they should go and when they are old they will do some "Damn Good Bowling", be a "DV8" and not turn from it, besides bowling starts with a Big B!

Trying to download USBC rules to see if there is any action taken against the center for their having less then 3 units of oil on any one board or lane. I believe the answer is no. Same for when centers get their yearly certification to have at least two lanes meet the minimum requirements for USBC. As of a few years ago there was no action USBC would take for such violations except maybe a letter. This yearly certification includes the 3 units of oil per board. Just an fyi in many places you bowl, many of the lanes do not meet the USBC yearly certifications guidelines. Only two lanes need to be able to pass. How awesome is that?!!!
