Is it just me or........

Is it just me or does everyone on this site who is selling bowling balls have smalllish/short spans?  Pretty much every used ball I see for sale has a span between 4-1/4 and 4-1/2?  

Or is my span just too long like my......................................feet!

My cut to cut isn't even 4"... Doesn't bother me in the least.  Doesn't matter how long my middle finger is, it still gets the message across.

I got a ball off eBay earlier this year that had nearly a 6-inch cut-to-cut span. Thumbhole was something like 1 1/4 with about 1 1/4 reverse in it.

I made sure to leave that guy good feedback considering he had my address.

my span is just UNDER 4 lol so i cant find any stuff when i want to that is close to my span.

Yeah I'm with you. I'm sitting here with 5 7/8 and 5 15/16 cut to cut. I doubt I will ever buy a ball on here just because I hate re-drilling. I'm also with you...size 15... that makes bowling shoes a little tough.

Pat,

Don't forget Chris Barnes, whis is not a small guy, has a span, last time I looked, of around 4 5/8" because he uses a huge amount of forward pitch in the thumb.

I reduced the back pitch in my thumb to 0 and my span went from 5" to 4 3/4", 4 1/2" cut to cut, due to using inserts.

My span is right around 4 inches too. I've found some people on this site who have about the same span and then I save those people in my address book so when a trade op comes up, I have a good idea who's good to trade with. Sometimes plugging and redrilling is just not worth it.

Plugging and redrilling is alaways worth it because your hand is never the same as someone else's with respect to the necessary pitch. The wrong pitches can do a lot of damage to your hand PERMANENTLY while you save $5 - $10 being cheap.

While your saving $10 today, your orthopedist will be making $10,000s with surgery to fix your hands 5, 10, 25 years down the road, laughing all the way to the bank. That is if you're even able to bowling in 10 or 20 years.

My span is a little over 5 inches also, and Im amazed when I see men with these short spans while Im only 18

I am 6'2" and my span is under 4" cut to cut.  With modern fitting it is extremely rare to fit someone for a span over about 4 and 3/4" total.
