PRO SHOPS WILL FACE A LONG LONELY SUMMER
« on: May 03, 2005, 05:44:55 AM »
Now that the USBC proposals have filtered down to most bowlers....I'm already losing business.....I have had three bowlers that were going to get new balls NOW decide not to....They want to wait & see if this NEW usbc rule passes....I do not really blame them....Who wants to spend 200.00 & have to throw the ball away in two years??....Also one in four bowlers I talked to in three different houses say if they have to throw away their current equipment they will quit....THATS!!!! 25% people....And these are the guys that buy 3 or more balls each year & bowl in multiple leagues.....The three owners I talked to Say they will just not sanction & give out their own awards....BOWLING FACES A LONG LONELY SUMMER

With all due respect, get a white dot out and try averaging 227 on the biggest wall you can find.  The walls may graph bigger today, but the realistic margin of error they create is no bigger than what we got out of yellow dots on the walls of the 70's when you factor in the over under and roll out potential for most of us.  The biggest impact on scoring in order has been the balls, the new lane machines with their stripping ability, and the generally better surfaces of synthetics vs old wood.

Bob, I agree... I couldn't average 227 w/ a White Dot on a big wall at this time. But I know a lot of people that can't average even 200 with a top of the line ball in every line available either... As far as impact, let's not forgot double void or synthetic pins and oils that promote higher scoring paces... I think the USBC is in the right direction... I just feel they should have included more of the dynamics into the letter than their "label drills is the saving grace" mantra is all.

Just to throw out some numbers if just 10% of the current members don't but a card because of these rules that is some serious cash.
approx $4,000,000 based on 2.5 million members which is fairly accurate.

I don't think that they can afford to lose that many members and Brunswick has already spoke up to let us know that they do NOT support the CG, X-hole, and logo rules. Them being the largest bowling co in the world gives their statement some serious weight I would think.

Maybe if they go through we will have BBBC (Big B Bowling Congress) shortly after. That will give new meaning to the "Nacion".  LOL

My only opinion about this is the slogan the new PBA guys are giving the players right now...

"If you don't like it, bowl the other tour"
