It just figures
« on: September 26, 2003, 04:16:16 AM »
I've been working for the past month or month and a half to open hand the ball and not hit it so much with pretty good results, i'm still getting good rotation and side roll, but much more in control and accuracy is really up. But my carry and area dropped to absolutley nothing, the last 3 sets i've shot 610-640 clean just leaving every possible tap i can imagine.

After last thursday and my clean 610 in one of the easiest scoring houses in our area i decided to go back to old form, i moved inside, didn't even bother picking out a board and just threw it somewere near 4th arrow out somewere as hard as i could hitting it as hard as i could. I had so much area i even made myself sick, i carried almost every shot i threw and ended up shooting like 760.

After 2 months of trying to tone my game down to score on a wall, now for some reason splatter bowling works better. I just don't get this game sometimes.

You will find that many times on a truely walled condition, the grip it & rip it style will score better.

I too have a harder time scoring well on a wall when playing the accuracy game. Thankfully I've been able to get a little better at "stand left, throw right"

It's unfortunate that we've come to this point, where the schlep who heaves the ball scores better than someone with accuracy, but a little less power.

thats just the thing, normally i agree with you. But all last year i was a grip it and rip it guy, and pretty accurate doing it, but i had trouble carrying and generating area. Most people told me it was because i overpowered a wall so i cut down on everything to try to play the wall better and it was more of the same. But when i went back to the grip it n rip it approach it worked now. I just don't understand why it does not but didn't then.

Maybe you've learned/picked up a few things when you were open handing the ball that carried over to your grip it and rip it style that have helped you, and you don't realize you're doing something slightly different..?

Or, the lane condition could just be different this year, and it suits your grip it and rip it style better than it did last year..? =:^D
