Tarnish on my OLD AMF Jig suggestions for cleaning?
« on: January 15, 2013, 02:00:22 PM »
May have posted this in the wrong spot, so hopefully the right spot!

I have a wonderful old AMF jig.

Parts of it where it adjusts for forward/reverse pitches appear to me to be brass.  True?

The numbers are starting to lose clarity due to age?  oxidation?  any suggested cleaning process that won't remove the notches and numbers?  The lateral pitch settings which appear to be in the silver colored portion of the jig are very clear.

Thanks, ball drilling gurus!

Try some Mother's Wading Polish, it comes in a small can in the auto parts store and consists of some cotton wading with polish built into it and works excellent on brass and other soft metals with no abrasion.

Is Brasso still available?? If you are suspect, try a Q tip on a unimportant area first.

Here is a picture of a competitors jig.

See the adjustable control to the right(also forward reverse pitch).  See the tarnish on the piece beneath the adjustable knob right there?  Same tarnish/corrosion.  Material?  Brass?  Stainless steel?

Experts.

It doesn't matter Wading Polish will clean it up either way.
