Weird Leave
« on: February 17, 2005, 02:50:22 PM »
I was rolling along today w/ 7 in a row on # 8 hit dead flush perfect walked away thinking "that's eight", when my teammate says "turn around" when I did the 5-7-10 was standing there like a oak in winter. How does one leave a split like that from a pocket hit? OH! I almost forgot how do you pick it up? After that I left the big four and a 7-10 both from pocket hits? I guess I should've put more info down; I was using a Track Revmaster and throwing just over 17.5mph my normal tops out at 16.50mph
I'm MALE!

that my friend is called bad carry. It means something has obviously changed. For me, if I leave that I usually notice I spun the ball, or hung in it, either way just didnt release it the same. BUT since you left those others on pocket shots (or what you may have thought were good pocket shots), sounds like your ball was burning up, and deflecting too much.

lane #1 carries that.....seriously though i dont know...only time ive seen the sour apple(or whatever) left was by a friend who throws the ball near or over 30 mph and thuus not much angle and lack of carry.

i can leave 7-10s almost on call with my v2 pearl if i try to get a lot of side roll with it but with lots of forward roll its a beast with me.

You left that from the ball not grabbing the lane. It slid to much and never got into a roll or it burned up and had no energy left for the pins.

You do not leave the big 4 from a good pocket hit unless the rack was incredibly bad.
I've seen plenty of 4-9's even the 7-10 just stone from high flush pocket hits but, you cannot leave the big 4 on a good or even high flush pocket hit unless the rack was set incredibly off.

teammate left the 5-7-10 tonight...her ball rotates on its side.  ball deflected poorly off the head pin.

the pros often take a rerack when they want a 'time-out'...

in one league i'm in, i often take reracks cause the four pin is set left of spot.  makes it harder for a lefty to carry...

Picking up the 5-7-10 (Sour Apple) with heavier balls is all luck...you need to bounce a pin or two to make it happen...Now I have seen it picked up with an eight pound ball and a lot of turn...Move five boards right or left (depending on your delivery hand) with your feet and hit your normal strike line...crank the daylights out of it...for righties...when it crosses over, the five will slide over and take out the ten and the ball will deflect into the seven.  I have seen it done several times...

Same for the 2-4-8-10...except you can get this with your normal ball (no light ball required) and without bouncing pins....Move seven boards right and hit your normal strike line....go at slowly with a lot of turn...the two slides into the ten and the four takes out the eight...I have personally done it several times...
