Is sandbagging an excepted practice in your city or state?

It seem like every other week there is a discussion on facebook about sandbagging. One person said that all the talk about re-adjusting or re-rating a bowler's average who's tournament scores are noticeably higher then there league average doesn't happen in other city's like it does in Cleveland. Do people just accept it and not complain about it?

Yup those are the handicap tournaments I stopped bowling in for just that reason. East Coast though.

My league's drop rule is 5 pins.  Sandbagging is also somewhat moderated by having position round every other week...

If a person is a known to bag at tournaments and his teammates know about this, and they win often. Do the team get punished? or just that one person?

still norcal ABT is the a piece of SHEET!  many know my story on why, after three semi events after moving here 10 yrs ago, I no longer bowl this ANOTHER BAGGERS TURN tourney. All three semi's I bowled over 230 on non house patterns. yet I got beat by guys with 20 sticks or more who also bowled in the 2 teens and 220s. 

hopefully, things have changed around here but I highly doubt it.

Yea pretty ridiculous most of then supposedly average 150 but to turn 50 dollars to 2 grand not so bad

Although I have heard that even Mambo has rerated him now. I know that TNBA has put a stop to his crap.

LOL, so you have met him too?

Funny story, I was having dinner, IN ANOTHER STATE mind you, and being with bowlers we started talking about it. A guy from a couple of tables away over heard us, came over, introduces himself and said, are you guys talking about Jesse (no last name here)? I hate that cheating piece of $h!t!!

I'm not giving a last name here, but he does bowl at Strikes. A couple of years ago he was claiming a 180 something average. Everyone knew it was a scam, but the tournaments did nothing about it. Maybe that's why tournaments like Mambo used to fill the stadium in Reno with multiple squads but not anymore.

That's not uncommon. You can bet that he was maxed in the brackets too.

Look at the tournaments Peter Hagin runs if you want a fair shot. He has a variety of event and does not hesitate to re-rate. He also has a series of 20-max tournaments where the most handicap anyone can get is 20 sticks.

Oh here we go I been searching for tournaments hard to find. I hop 3bowlers but they barely have any. I'm doing an Asian American tournament this week . pretty fair sport shot and the directors make your average based on past tourneys and average overall on sport shots.
