American Lane Conditions?
« on: May 19, 2004, 06:48:25 PM »
Here in Australia we use a 3:1 ratio (Not everwhere, but in my house) as are house shot what do you Americans use? Also is a Sport Shot a 2:1 ratio?

Many houses here have up to 20:1 ratios maybe even more. There is no limit other than you must apply 3 units minimum.

A normal house shot around in my town is probably 10:1.

To be sport compliant the ratio has to be 2:1 or less.

Somewhere between 10:1 and 15:1 is common.  With 4 units on the outside boards, that means you start out with 40-60 units in the middle.

Typical American house shot.

It’s hard to say.

In general I would think around 205 but whether your style would take advantage of the lane condition is unknown.

Some here will average 200 on soft conditions and 190 on sport. Some will average 220 on soft conditions and only 180 on sport.

America uses easy lane conditions because as a society we have become too lazy to think/adjust to anything that might be remotely challenging.  If we have to adjust, we will quit and go home and watch TV. Therefore, we get the same wall week to week so we can all just shoe up, throw our easy 200's and go home happy.
