Title: Is there a High Performance ball that is for drier lanes??
Post by: gypsies97 on January 14, 2005, 04:36:36 AM
i've been using a Ebonite killer instinct Pearl for the most part , Medium patterns and even some heavier patterns and the instinct works and hits extemely hard.

However, i've sometime encountered really fried up lanes late at nights and the killer is far too aggressive and i find myself standing around the 30 and hitting the 15 or 17 board.

so i went out and bought myself a Sper Trooper. nice ball but the hitting power of this thing is just way less potent than the killer or any of my other high performance balls.

any suggestions on this?

I like Track's Dry Heat, though many people say it hooks too much for dry conditions... But I drilled it tame, because on dry lanes I figured the cover would do most of the work...

i like my Sling Blade for the drier conditions and if its more fried than that, I use my Faball Blue Pearl Hammer.

I toss a Punisher.  it goes quite long, and hits like a Wrecking ball (not the old school wrecking ball ball.)

I don't think it's considered a "High Performance" ball, but you quite a bit of bang for the buck.

i had a quick look at the Punisher and it looks like a nice ball giving some length and good hitting power.

If you could do a search on this topic of dry lane balls (since the stupid search engine only goes back 30 days) I'll bet you'll find this topic has been covered a number of times. Let me say it again, Sonic X. I'n not a Roto slappy by any means, but this shell was reccomended to me a zillion times here in BR... finally, after about a year, I finally got one. I should have listened sooner!

Heres my 2 cents --- Visionary's Slate Blue Gargoyle.  I've been very happy with it so far

To add to what has already been suggested: Dyno-Thane makes the Barrage.  If that's too weak for you, you could go with one of the new Crisis Pearls.

As a side note, on very dry and "fried" lanes, a "big back end" is usually what you do not want, that's how you end up in trouble.

Sonic X Pearl. Not really a burnt condition ball but an excellent light oil ball.

I love my sonic x, i don't see why you would need anymore of higher performance ball then that for dry.

I agree with you - love my sonic-x as well.  However... even though it has a weak layout, it is still too much ball for truly dry/toast conditions.  There are other choices out there with less cover and core.

Dyno-Thane Barrage
Roto-Grip Sonic-X (the original pearl)
Brunswick Slay/R
Columbia Trooper
Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle
Storm Big Hit
Ebonite Tornado Warning

Take your pick, but you better see and hot some serious dry.

Intense Inferno, Dry Heat, V2 Sweet, Sling Blade and some other balls mentioned?
WHat kind of drugs are you guys taking?
Or how many mph over 25 do you throw the ball on your strike ball?
