Safety nets!
« on: August 01, 2004, 10:30:20 AM »
I went to bed and got all these weird ideas, they kept coming at me, figured if I write them out, I'll get them off of my mind.

If you watch a circus, during practice they use nets. The really good ones, dare devils do it without a net for their performance.

Got me to thinking about a book I read, can't remember which one. Guy said that those who focus on their goal, don't think about the what-ifs of failure and go for their dream, most make it but some don't.
Thinking about what you'll do if the first thing fails is giving you a second option, making it easier to quit.

I need to figure out the in between spot!!

I was thinking in terms of my son. He's unattached, lives with us to save money. Some folks take a year off to find themselves before going onto college, some travel, others work. Perhaps he should pick something and go for it.

Very good point Proudmama.  My buddy went out on the PBA Central Region Circuit 3 years ago and won Rookie of the Year!!!  During his first two full seasons bowling in the regionals, he has turned a profit.  At the beginning of this season (for whatever reason), he started talking about quitting bowling the regionals because he doesn't want to have to profit to be able to stay out there.  In other words, without a backer the stress of having to profit in order to pay for future entry fees was unappealing to him.

I'm wondering where the heck that came from because he's had 2 awesome seasons out in the PBA Regionals.  Why would he start worrying out of the blue like that?

Oh yeah, he's having his worst season yet.  Go figure.

Could depend on your friend's age and current family status.
We met one guy in Del. regional, his wife left him come out, first time in a long time. Lack of money was a problem, think she said they had a kid..

Bowling badly could be mental problem worrying over money. If you focus too much on the money it can hurt your game big time.

To pursue a dream of any kind without distraction is best way to go.

Little bible comment here, Jesus told those who wanted to follow him, not to look back.

If you look back or second guess yourself, you'll be distracted by things that may slow you down.

What-ever floats your boat, always go for the gusto.
