Title: Is this legal??
Post by: louie on August 21, 2003, 02:31:22 AM
I just bought a used ball. It was drilled lefty, pin next to ring finger cg kicked out left with a weight hole.
I bowl no thumb. I didn't want the ball to be pin in track so I flipped it over and threw it that way. It rolls great! When I'm throwing the ball the thumb hole is 5 inches over the fingers like some weird kind of weight hole. The ball has legal statics, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to throw the thing upside down.

Is this Legal??
Thanx

Interesting question. Kinda invalidates the concept of static weight requirements, doesn't it?

No this is not legal if it has a balance hole. Even if it is drilled left handed, you are using it thumbless right handed. You can use a regularly drilled ball with a weight hole thumbless as long as your hand covers the thumb hole. That is the only way you can get the same static weight requirements thumbless. I have had to defend myself with this because I have used my regular league balls to throw thumbless every once in a while (it helps me to get back to coming up the back of the ball instead of topping it)
