Is This Possible Or Am I Crazy
« on: November 07, 2013, 11:54:53 AM »
Bought a Dexter S6 replacement sole the one with perforation holes. Since I have been using it; the last 8 weeks or so, I have stuck hard like 4 times and have had a few times were I have stuck a little but didn't bite it. Anyway my thought is is it possible that the holes are creating some sort of suction at the line. I have never fallen before this slide sole. Anyone have a similar occurrence with this slide sole?

One question, what did you use before?

In the olden days, I had a pair of Linds with the perforated soles.  The soles were suppose to be slicker than the soles without holes.  My guess is the times you have stuck your foot may have slid "more" than usual making your heal be the stopping force.  Just the same as being out timing at the line can cause sliding issues.

This is just my guess.

I was using the S6 but it didn't have the holes. I was so frustrated after last night I bought a new one this morning without the holes. Had a good set going after 2 with 499 going into the last game stuck and bit it hard second frame and never threw a double after that, finished with 170. Needless to say very frustrated.

The perforated soles actually slide less than solid soles, but there is no chance it is creating suction.

Shooter, how old are your Dexters? Your replacement sole is microfiber, whereas you may have originally had the leather S6 soles before. The microfiber is a little stickier than the leather. I don't know of a leather replacement being available for S6. There is a leather S8 available through Bowlingball.com to use as an alternative to the microfiber S8s, but no S6 leather alternative of which I know.

I have my shoe-maker glue a leather soul to the plain plastic Dexter soul to duplicate the leather feel on my Dynorooz shoe.  Seems to have worked.

Thanks for the responses guy's. My shoes are the SST 6 SE, the soles are microfiber.
I think I will try my S8 sole this week since it doesn't have the perforations.

If you stick once in a while with the smooth #8 you might consider the new #9 Dexter sole which is a synthetic mixture. The #10 is way to slick for most bowlers.
If your heel is grabbing the #7 Dexter might work better for you with the#8 sole.
Age comes into play along with style of bowlers who want longer slide.
