Not that anyone cares :) but
« on: March 11, 2005, 03:33:07 AM »
Jeffrevs,  Thank you for inquiring about my whereabouts.

I still read some articles on Ballreviews.  But some are out of hand and so many names have gone or changed.  I emailed the webmaster but unfortunately he has not replied to my emails.

I retired from the Navy and was in the middle of building a show bike for Easyriders when I was in a motorcycle accident that didn't cause major damage, but I had second and third degree burns on my right hand, forearm, stomach, hip and knee.  Nothing broken.

So since I have healed enough to throw a ball again, I started reading Ballreview articles again and at times I seem lost.  I hope to be in Fremont April 23rd to bowl/visit with Doc Hollywood, Pchee2 and others, then in the middle of August I am bowling with the San Diego Ambassadors in Al Tuna PA(spelling I'm not sure) then back to Detroit for Thanksgiving weekend.

To keep this bowling related:

What is the real difference between the Vertigo and the original X Factor?  The differential and the RG is only a couple of thousands difference both reactive.  I drilled an X Factor very similar to the Vertigo with the same coverstock prep and then seem to travel the same line.  I drilled the X Factor though to keep polished for medium oil with a good back end and the Vertigo in box condition for medium (long) and heavier oil.

Whats your opinion?

Welcome back. I've seen you post a little bit but that was a while ago. Oh and the difference is that the vertigo is a solid reactive, more control, the original x-factor is a pearl reactive. Solids handle more oil and are more arcy.

TBK25,

Thank you for the info about the Vertigo and the X Factor.  I know the difference was between solid and pearl, but I thought there was more of a difference then just the coverstock.  I know the RG and Diff are different, but they are to close to make a major difference.  So is the Vertigo a solid X Factor?

I have so much catching up to do.  If anyone has changed their user name and cares to PM me with their old user name, I'd appreciate it.

Nice to see some of the old names popping back up since I joined this sight in 01. Good to see you back Nic. Hopefully some more of the "old timers" will start showing back up as time goes by. You guys are a great source of info and I always enjoy reading your post. Glad you are alright, those 2 wheelers can getcha sometimes.

Nic,

Let me know when you'll be in PA.  I'm in NC now, so it's not a huge drive.  That plus Altoona is my hometown.    Will you be bowling at Holiday Bowl or Pleasant Valley?  I still work a swing shift, so I can't guarantee I can be there, but I will if I can.

Best wishes on a full and speedy recovery.

Nice to see you around. The coverstock and the rad tech are the BIG diff in the 2 balls.

Hello.  I'm too new to remember you really, but welcome back anyways.

I'm just a brunswick guy, but I do believe that the Vertigo and original both have different coverstocks (original has accutread, vertigo has some new one, but i'm not sure the difference), and the vertigo is solid whereas the original is pearl.  The vertigo also has  a lower RG core.  So basically, the vertigo will be much earlier and smoother than the original x-factor.  It's Storm's heavy oil reactive ball.  Hope that helps some.

Thank you for the post Sawbones, Cooksey, TTforshort and Stider.

I feel stronger now and I'm throwing the ball fairly well but I am leaving a lot of 10 pins and missing way to many

]As for Hose and the others that rib me about my average, 189 on a sport shot was not bad for me.  Not good, but not bad.

I just got my average back up to 189 a week ago and now I'm over 190 I can only bowl once a week now and hope to bowl more often next season.

Strider I'm not sure what bowling center we'll be bowling at in Altoona but we have a meeting this Sunday and I should get a lot more information.  I'll be driving from san Diego to Branson MO and then up to Altoona.

I hope to make a slow re-entry to Ballreviews and hope to write and read many interesting post.  I also would like to see some of the posters posters of yesteryear post once in a while also.

Thanks again.

Welcome back Nic!  I was wondering what happened to you.  Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad to hear you are well and back bowling.
