Is USBC now a marketing company??

I understand they need to raise money, but USBC seems to be focusing a lot more on marketing to their members. Nationwide insurance has been pushed for a while, but I have gotten a couple of emails this week trying to sell me a Storm ball.

That's why I always try to remember to check (or uncheck, depending on how they word it) that box on the membership form to make sure I don't get any marketing emails from them.

Nothing like being a governing body that is in charge of rules, regulations and the integrity of the sport while pushing a certain brand of bowling balls on it's members.

That's why every year on the form, I still list my bowl.com email so I do not get any junk from them except through the mail.

They are an organization that needs money to operate.  If Storm wants to pay them a fee to advertise their balls, so be it.  It's a business.  You don't like it, throw the stuff away without looking at it.  As usual, bowlers prove to be the biggest whiners about trivial stuff more than those who participate in any other sport.

Yes cause no other sport would have participants complaing about being solicited.

USBC is a business and only cares about its financial well being and not those whom it governs. Much like the U.S. Government. Once you understand that the easier it is to see the shit they do.

I didn't agree with the DVDs they sent over the summer to people. I have senior leagues who can care less about this and getting letters that they need to return them or be charged. When the letter states that you can keep as a gift.

I think it's pretty simple, you have the choice to provide your email on the sanction card.  If you don't want to receive emails simply don't provide that info.  Either that or mark it as spam and be on your way.

I don't personally see a problem, it's an a simple email after all.  I can't tell you how many I've gotten about "Discovering Reno" for the upcoming nationals, but it takes me 3 seconds to hit delete.  No big deal to me.

They have my email and like i said i do receive emails from them and mostly just delete them without opening after reading the subject line.

I can't say i've received any mail from them other than my sanction card and some stuff for Reno this year being a team captain.  Maybe they only mail to people without their email addresses, i'm not to sure.

This might be a shocking idea but after I get my sanction card, I don't even open any mail from USBC.  It gets thrown out.  You'd be surprised how easy it is to do and how stress free it keeps you concerning the USBC.  Might be beyond the scope of understanding of the three or four constant bashers of the USBC on here.

I actually used my USBC card at the Pharmacy, and surprisingly I saved an additional 6 dollars. So I can't knock it too much.
