Between the Jackal and the Guru, which ball would have a higher carry % on a 45 foot pattern such as Route 66, playing 23 at the arrows with a breakpoint of 14?
-
Is this a real question?
Just in case, I would guess that would depend on your ball speed and revs for starters.

Tons of variables (surface, layout, tilt/rotation) obv.........but how could ANYONE know the answer to this?

Sorry.
Rev rate = 380
Speed = 15mph - as measured by speed camera on lane (not off the hand)
PAP = 5" and 1/2" up
Surface = OOB
Layout = same on both balls, pin-up (I don't own the balls so theoretical at this point - open to suggestions)

If your rev rate was 375 it would be the Jackal, if your rev rate was 385 it would be the Guru. At 380 it is a tie.

LOL… It's safer not to touch this one. ;D
If you believe Bowlers Journal magazine reviews, the Guru has slightly more hook potential than the Jackal. They say the Guru has probably the most hook of any ball they've ever seen. Time will tell…
Regardless, there are another things to consider. The Jackal is a power pearl while the Guru is solid resin. Based on your style, do you have a preference? In the end, if you have a solid game, You'll likely be able to make either one work.

Is it being thrown by E.A.R.L. ?

This is the most trollingest question I have seen in a while here. In fact, I now have to go lie down and take 2 aspirin.

According to the BTM reviews, these 2 are very close - too close to call. Jackal gets a touch more length(13 vs 12) and a touch more torque (backend strength)(7.5 vs 7). Same hook.
Take your pick.

I guess to kind of put in 2 cents.. i never had good carry with brunswick stuff so....

I wasn't going to respond, but this question is one of the dumbest I have ever seen. Where you play any shot, depends on the lane topography. Some lanes have built in hook in the track from years of use. Others play tighter as they don't have the wear and tear. Also it depends on the volume of oil, 45 ft at high volume plays different than 45 ft at low volumes. There are way too many variables, beyond your stats, that would effect ball motion and hence carry.
In today's market place, most companies make very good balls. Pick one, use a reputible driller, and let them make recommendations on drilling, and go practice. That is what will do the most good to increase your carry.

Thanks all for your input. Didn't intend to waste anyone's time.
Basically was trying to figure out which ball would have greater continuation in the area of the lane being played, given the approx. angle of entry there would be at that breakpoint on the lane. Will try to ask more answerable questions in the future.
I wish there was a bowling alley though that was willing to put out sport patterns at a bowler's request (during open play) so one could practice.
