Bowling on ESPN!
« on: January 22, 2004, 10:27:33 AM »
I just saw on tonight's (Thursday's) Sportscenter, an actual bowling spot on the show. Those who know the show, at the end they show the Top 10 of Sportscenter. Pretty much that is just the top 10 plays of the day. Anyways in number 10 (of course), was Major League Baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, John Burkett. He had bowled in this weeks ABC Masters, for he is an avid bowler, and they showed a small clip of him bowling at the stadium, and then a little interview with him. Hopefully this helps out bowling somewhat. I had a post about the PBA being on Sportscenter, and how I think it would help bowling a few months ago. Hopefully this does, and can start something. By the way, Burkett finished I think in 130-something place, after three squads in the first qualifying of 10 games.

Not to take anything away from John Burkett, but why can't ESPN do a piece on the Tour and the players trying to make a living in the new "environment" of having to make the exempt field. I'm sure they could get some interesting info to put out. Maybe the casual fan would get a better understanding of the upcoming exempt tour and how different it's going to be. I'm sure by watching the occasional PBA tournament, they're not getting the gist of what's going on, mainly because there isn't the time to really explain it on the show.
